v Correction Structure and Practice

 

1.      Subject (Singular/ plural) + aux/ verb singular/ plural (Preposition) + object.

Incorrect: Honey taste sweet.

Correct: Honey tastes sweet.

 

2.      There+ is/was+ singular noun

3.      There+ are/were+ plural noun

Incorrect: There is  many books on the table.

Correct: There are many books on the table.

 

4.      WHQ+ aux+ Sub+ verb + obj+?

Incorrect: When you arrived here?

Correct: When did you arrive here?

 

 

5.      Present indefinite/ present perfect tense+  Since + past indefinite tense

Incorrect: Many years pass since we meet last.

Correct: Many years pass since we met last.

 

6.      Past indefinite tense + Since + past perfect tense

Incorrect: Many years passed since we  meet.

Correct: Many years pass since we had met.

 

 

7.      No sooner had ....... than+ past indefinite tense

Incorrect: No sooner had we reached the station than he leave.

Correct: No sooner had we reached the station than he left.

 

8.      Scarcely had ....... when + past indefinite tense

Incorrect: No sooner had we reached the station than he leave.

Correct: No sooner had we reached the station when he left.

 

 

9.      Hardly had .............     when    + past indefinite tense

Incorrect: No sooner had we reached the station than he leave.

Correct: No sooner had we reached the station when he left.

 

10.  Past perfect tense + before + past indefinite tense

Incorrect: We had reached the station before he leaves.

Correct: We had reached the station before he left.

 

11.  Past indefinite tense + after + Past perfect tense

Incorrect: We had reached the station after he  left.

Correct: We had reached the station after he had left.

 

 

12.  Either ....... or / neither..... nor

Incorrect: Either rahim or his friends makes it.

Correct: Either rahim or his friends make it.

 

 

13.  If + present indefinite tense+ future indefinite tense

Incorrect: If you come, I go.

Correct: If you come, I will go.

 

14.  If + past indefinite tense+ past conditional

 

Incorrect: If you came, I go.

Correct: If you came, I would go.

15. If + past perfect tense+ Sub+ would have/might have+ verb 3

 

Incorrect: If you had come, I would have gone.

Correct: If you came, I would go.

 

 

16.  Let + object + verb Gi Present form + object.

 

Incorrect: Let him sat inside.

Correct: Let him sit inside.

 

 


Ex: Incorrect: She look pretty.

Correct: She looks pretty.

 


Ex: Incorrect: I always liked him.

Correct: I always like him.

 


Ex: Incorrect: I watch TV now.

Correct: I am watching TV now.

 


Ex: Incorrect: He reached Dhaka recently.

Correct: He has reached Dhaka recently.

 


Ex: Incorrect: He looks pretty yesterday.

Correct: He looked pretty yesterday.

 


Ex: Incorrect: I come tomorrow.

Correct: I will come tomorrow.

 


Ex: Inc: She look pretty since her childhood.

Cor: She has been looking pretty since her childhood

 


Ex: Incorrect: Would that she look pretty.

Correct: Would that she could look pretty.

 

 

9.      ‡Kvb Sentence G hw` So that _v‡K Z‡e, Gi c‡ii Subject Gi mv‡_ can / could e‡m|

Ex: Incorrect: He worked hard so that he earn money.

 Correct: He worked hard so that he can earn money.

 

   Ex: Incorrect: I wish I look pretty.

 Correct: I wish I looked pretty.

 


Ex: Incorrect: He talks as if he is mad.

 Correct: He talks as if he were mad.

 

    

Ex: Incorrect: He came here with a view to have dinner.  

Correct He came here with a view to have dinner.

 


Ex: Incorrect: After meet him, I was glad.

Correct: After meeting him, I was glad.

 

     Ex: Incorrect: He has see in the street.

 

16. Correct: He has seen in the street.

 

       

Ex: Incorrect: He must gone.

 Correct: He must go.

 

       

Ex: Incorrect: Walk fast lest you miss the train.

 Correct: Walk fast lest you should miss the train.

 

 

Ex: Incorrect: He is junior me.

 Correct: He is junior to me.

 


 Correct: While I was walking, a snake bit me.

 

            

                  Ex: The people of Bangladesh is poor.

                  Cor: The people of Bangladesh are poor. 

 

                           

Ex: Incorrect: Sima as well as her sisters is pretty.

Correct: Sima as well as her sisters are pretty.

 

    

Ex: Incorrect: She look pretty.

Correct: She looks pretty.

 

          

Ex: Incorrect: The news were correct.

 Correct: The news was correct.


Ex:He sings and danced

.Co: He sings and dances.
